Villa Philbrook | The Style Emporium

Tulsa and Villa Philbrook

Brighton and I had a wonderful time in Tulsa last weekend.  We spent Saturday exploring the gorgeous homes of Brookside and wrapped up our afternoon at the exquisite Villa Philbrook.  The once home of oil magnate and his wife, Waite and Genevieve Phillips is now one of America’s finest art museums.  The 72-room mansion was designed by Kansas City architect Edward Buehler Delk in Italian Renaissance style.  It’s surrounding 23-acres of gardens are a stunning complement to the grand villa.  After exploring the incredible art collection (that included several Picasso’s!) we headed outside to wander through the enchanting grounds.  I’m absolutely in love with landscape architecture and have such an appreciation for formal gardens.  As breathtaking as the home’s interior is, it was the exterior architecture and gardens that I fell in love with!  Rows of pristinely geometric boxwoods, a terraced water feature that runs the length of the walled garden and a gracefully scaled tempietto added to the romance of the grounds.  What a treasure for Tulsa to have this incredible home in their city.  If you are ever in Tulsa, make time to visit the Villa Philbrook, it’s a national beauty!
